Frequently asked questions

What muscles do tricep pushdowns work?

Pushdowns isolate the triceps — the three-headed muscle that makes up most of your upper-arm size. The rope variation lets you spread the hands at the bottom for a stronger contraction.

Do pushdowns build bigger arms?

The triceps are about two-thirds of your upper-arm size, so training them well matters more than curls for overall arm size. Pushdowns are a great isolation move alongside pressing.

Bar vs rope pushdown?

A straight bar lets you load a bit heavier; the rope allows a wider spread and a stronger squeeze at the bottom. Rotating between them covers the triceps well.
