Frequently asked questions

What muscles do chin-ups work?

Chin-ups work the lats and biceps as the main movers, with the rhomboids, rear delts and forearms assisting. The underhand grip recruits the biceps more than a pull-up does.

Chin-up vs pull-up — which builds bigger biceps?

The chin-up. Its underhand grip puts the biceps in a stronger line of pull, so it's genuinely one of the best biceps exercises, while still building the back.

Are chin-ups easier than pull-ups?

For most people, yes — the biceps contribute more, so chin-ups usually feel a little easier. They're a great stepping stone toward strict pull-ups.
